Appointed in 2010, one of the first projects has been the marketing of the magnificent 50 Sloane Square restaurant. This has generated a significant level of interest ahead of the market; the user will be of key importance to compliment the retail and serve the residents. |
South Kensington EstatesWe are continuing to advise to South Kensington Estates on the leisure element of its South Kensington and Brompton Quarter states, including the recent letting to MARC Restaurants for Cassis on Brompton Road. |
Signature Lettings: Including Manhattan Loft Co and Marcus Wareings Gilbert Scott Restaurant, St PancrasDCL acted for Harry Handlesman in sourcing an exciting chef for the outstanding listed restaurant within the new Renaissance Hotel at St Pancras, gateway to Europe. This represented an excellent opportunity for Chantelle Nicholson who had been working with Marcus to showcase her skills, both at front and back of house. DCL is often asked by clients to find exceptional operators to compliment their estates or buildings. Grosvenor: Mayfair and Belgravia EstatesDCL has advised Grosvenor on its vast leisure holdings for several years. This not only extends to their new developments, including Festival Place, Basingstoke and Liverpool One, but also their Central London Estates of Belgravia and Mayfair. We have carried out asset management exercises on old pubs, introducing new vibrant gastropub operators, international restaurateurs and signature Michelin chefs and new up and coming embryonic brands bringing a point of difference. Recent projects include Kinnerton Street SW1 and ongoing with Duke Street W1. |
Westfield GroupAdvising the world’s largest retail property group across its UK portfolio, we provide key consultation on strategic tenant mix and act on a sole agency basis for food and beverage. We provided comprehensive consultancy and agency services on the group’s global flagship Westfield London, which incorporates over 50 eating and drinking offers throughout the scheme. This includes The Balcony; a ground-breaking dining experience featuring 13 different international cuisines in a shared seating environment. We sourced operators from Michelin-starred chefs to international restaurateurs and the best of London’s homegrown talent to create a truly eclectic line-up featuring six new concepts. We advised on Westfield Derby and Merryhill, and are currently leasing the F&B element of the group’s Westfield Stratford City; Europe’s largest urban shopping centre at 1.9 milion sq ft and prestigious gateway to London’s Olympic Park, opening September 2011. |
British Land: Meadowhall, Sheffield, Surrey Quays, Whiteley shopping centres, and London office estates, Broadgate and Regent’s PlaceWe were appointed alongside local letting and managing asset managers in 2008 to give specific input on the catering and leisure provision throughout Meadowhall, the 1.4m sq ft retail, lifestyle and leisure scheme in Sheffield. We have introduced a number of new brands into the scheme, starting with five new restaurants in the pre-exisitng Namco space, including Handmade Burger, Coal and Zizzi and Yo! Sushi in a mall site outside House of Fraser. Last year, we introduced new fast food offers to complement the already existing successful line up together with TGI Friday’s, Cafe Rouge and Wagamama. This year a further four restaurants will be added to the mix, in line with a £7 million investment upgrading the dining area with new space, furniture, lighting and flooring. Further to British Land’s purchase of Whiteley and the successful planning application, we are advising on tenant mix for the exciting new centre. For British Land’s office estates in the City and West End, we give specific advice on how to enhance the food provision and align it with the needs of the office tenants. We are instructed on all ongoing asset management opportunities throughout both its key estates; Broadgate and Regent’s Place. At Surrey Quays we are advising at the feasibility, pre-planning stage to determine how the centre can be improved and enhanced from a food and beverage perspective. We will then take the project through to leasing and delivery. |
Shaftesbury Plc: St Martin’s Courtyard, The Opera Quarter & CarnabyDCL advises niche central London developer Shaftesbury on its “urban villages” including the Opera Quarter, Covent Garden’s new food quarter, and recently on St Martin’s Courtyard. St Martin’s Courtyard is Covent Garden’s new shopping, dining and lifestyle destination, now fully let in terms of restaurant tenants, including the West End flagship for Jamie’s Italian, acclaimed new Indian concept Dishoom, the first Bill’s restaurant and cafe in London and a new Thai concept from the team behind Patara. DCL also advises Shaftesbury on its Carnaby, Seven Dials and Chinatown estates, for both asset management and new lettings. We introduce innovative operators to complement the personality of each area and ensuring an eclectic range of new food and drink offers. |
Capital & Counties: Covent Garden and OlympiaDCL advises Capital & Counties as part of a team of specialists on the transformation of the world-famous Covent Garden Market and Piazza. Steering the estate to become a world-class destination for shopping, dining and entertainment, we provide consultancy and agency advice on the eating and drinking content from food retailing to new signature restaurant lettings such as the London outpost of acclaimed New York restaurant Balthazar, opening Winter 2011. We are also advising on the improvement of eating, drinking and grazing offers at Olympia, the renowned exhibition and eventing area now under Capital & Counties ownership. |

The Crown Estate: Quadrant Restaurants and Regent Street Eating Quarter, Heddon StreetAs retained leisure advisor to The Crown Estate, we place great pride in our success of sourcing new operations for its Regent Street Estate. We are currently advising on The Quadrant Restaurants, situated within the former Regent Palace Hotel. The two flagship restaurants previously traded as the Atlantic and Titanic, and are one of the biggest art deco restoration projects in the UK at present. As new opportunities arise through ongoing asset management, DCL has identified - and continues to identify - a vibrant mix of operators to complement the existing line-up of the Regent Street Eating Quarter.
